We offer patients access to the latest technology, such as lung-sparing surgery and minimally invasive, video-assisted surgery and tomotherapy, which delivers high doses of carefully targeted radiation.

We perform more esophagectomies for esophageal cancer than any other program in Virginia, many using less invasive surgical approaches. 

We were the first hospital in the area to obtain a PET-CT scanner, which can detect lung cancer in its earliest stages. And our doctors recently pioneered a new technique to find tiny lesions in the lung earlier than ever before possible, which can lead to a better outcome.

Our thoracic surgeons also perform minimally invasive video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) lobectomy to remove lung cancers whenever possible.
