Listing of conditions and treatments for Eye Care
The Newest Procedures for the Eye
Our advanced technologies include lasers, instruments and surgical techniques. We can:
Perform high-risk corneal transplants
Conduct eye surgery to repair your vision
Treat your cataracts with lens implants
Use specialized computers to assess the quality of your cornea's surface
Measure your peripheral vision to diagnose glaucoma early
Examine the shape of the optic nerve in the back of your eye with special imaging technology
Save the Eye, Treat the Tumor
We have two options for treating eye tumors (choroidal melanomas): Gamma knife therapy, in conjunction with our Radiation Oncology and Neurosurgery departments; and radioactive plaque treatment, an innovative procedure that uses radiation on your eye.
Get the Right Fit
We can fit your eye for soft contact lenses to address simple vision disorders or provide rigid gas permeable lenses to deal with complex cornea disorders (including those who've had a previous cornea transplant). We have a wide selection of lenses to meet your needs.
Care for Glaucoma
We routinely use up-to-date therapies to treat all stages of glaucoma. These therapies include lasers, cataract surgery, specialized implants and filtering surgery (where excess fluid is filtered out of the eye, lowering pressure levels within the eye).
Aid for Low Vision
Do you need rehabilitation services or other help with your low vision or eye condition? We offer services and visual aids from magnifiers to sophisticated technologies through our close work with the Virginia Department for the Blind and Vision Impaired.
