Surgery

Offers consultations and surgical procedures for:

• Cancers of the breast, skin, gastrointestinal system, liver and pancreas

• Colon, rectum, thyroid, parathyroid, adrenals and pancreas as well as other general surgical procedures

• General and thoracic procedures for patients 18 years of age and under

• Heart, lungs, esophagus and great vessels; pediatric congenital and adult, including heart and lung transplantation

• Kidney and liver (including living donation), pancreas and islet cell transplantation and post-transplantation patient management

• Thoracic and abdominal aorta, mesenteric, renal and peripheral arteries, veins and thoracic outlet syndrome and amputation

Surgical services include:

• Preanesthesia Evaluation and Testing Center (PETC): Provides patient education, preoperative labwork and testing plus any completion of activities needed for surgery/procedures.

• Surgical Admission Suite (SAS): Contacts patient before surgery, prepares patient on surgery day and discharges patients not staying after surgery.

• Operating Room: Confirms and assesses patient information and safely transfers the patient to proper area postoperatively.

• Surgical Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU): Provides for safe patient recovery, including any needed pain relief and other needs prior to transfer to the appropriate hospital unit.
