Background
Dr. Hayden attended medical school and did his pediatric residency at the University of North Carolina. He worked at the CDC for two years and spent one year at the World Healh Organization working on vaccines for children. He was a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar at Yale University for two years before joining the pediatric faculty at UVA where he is now Professor of Pediatrics. He has two daughters, two stepsons and four grandchildren. Besides his clinical practice, he enjoys teaching, writing, music and golf.
