Cancer Clinical Trials
Listing of Cancer Clinical Trials
Clinical trials are research studies involving people. They are the final step in a long process that begins with preliminary laboratory research and animal testing. Clinical trials try to answer specific scientific questions to find better ways to prevent, detect, or treat a disease or to improve care for people with a disease.
In cancer research, a clinical trial is designed to show how a certain anticancer approach — for instance a promising drug, a new surgical procedure, a new diagnostic test or a new possible way to prevent cancer — affects the people who receive it.
Open Clinical Trials:
- A Multicenter, Open-Label, Phase 2 Study to Evaluate the Safety and Efficacy of NKTR-102 (PEG-Irinotecan) When Given on a Q14 Day or a Q21 Day Schedule in Patients with Metastatic or Unresectable Locally Advanced Platinum-Resistant Ovarian Cancer
- The purpose of this study is to see if the experimental drug called NKTR-102 is safe and effective in treating patients with ovarian cancer.
- A Phase III Randomized Trial of Lobectomy versus Sublobar Resection
- The purpose of this study is to look at whether removal of a small section of the lung (called sublobar resection) is equal to a lobectomy (a larger surgery which takes out an entire section or lobe of the lung).
- A Phase III Trial of Irinotecan/5-FU/Leucovorin or Oxaliplatin/5-FU/Leucovorin with Bevacizumab, or Cetuximab (C225), or with the Combination of Bevacizumab and Cetuximab for Patients with Untreated Metastic Adenocarcinoma or the Colon or Rectum
- The purpose of the study is to understand whether one of the following two combinations cetuximab plus chemotherapy, or cetuximab plus bevacizumab plus chemotherapy, is better than the combination of bevacizumab with chemotherapy in patients who do not have K-ras mutations in their tumor tissue.
- Adult Men And Women Over The Age Of 18 With Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC, Or Liver Cancer) For Research Study.
- The purpose of the study is to see how the experimental drug combination of Erlotinib and Bevacizumab (E+B), compares to the current approved drug, Sorafenib (S).
- Adult Women Over The Age Of 18 With Invasive Breast Cancer With Positive Hormone Receptors And 1-3 Positive Lymph Nodes For A Research Study
- A study looking at adult women over the age of 18 with invasive breast cancer with positive hormone receptors and 1-3 positive lymph nodes.
- Adults Over 18 With Cutaneous Metastatic Melanoma Wanted For Imiquimod With Or Without Vaccine Study
- The purpose of the study is to determine the safety of an investigational peptide-based vaccine in combination with the administration of topical imiquimod cream in patients with skin metastases of melanoma.
- Adults with Cutaneous or Subcutaneous Metastatic Melanoma (Stage IIIB-IV) wanted for research study
- The purpose of the study is to determine the safety of administration of intratumoral interferon gamma with a peptide-based vaccine in study subjects with cutaneous or subcutaneous metastases of melanoma amenable to biopsy and to evaluate the immune effects of the vaccine at the tumor sites.
- Adults With Polycthemia Vera Invited To Be In A Research Study
- The purpose of the study is to see if an experimental drug is as well as the best available therapy for Polycythemia Vera.
- Advanced Indolent non-Hodgkins Lymphoma or Mantle Cell Lymphoma treatment study
- The purpose of the study is to compare the safety and effectiveness of the combination of experimental chemotherapy with bendamustine and rituximab to standard chemotherapy (R-CHOP or R-CVP).
- ASSURE: Adjuvant Sorafenib or Sunitinib for Unfavorable Renal Carcinoma
- The purpose of the study is to determine if Sunitinib or Sorafenib can prevent recurrence of kidney cancer and to compare the effects of Sunitinib and Sorafenib on kidney cancer.
- Chemo/Radiation Trial Opportunity For Adults With Resectable/Borderline Resectable Pancreas Cancer
- Clinical trial for patients with newly diagnosed embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma
- UVA Health System, Department of Pediatrics seeks: children, adolescents, women and men with newly diagnosed embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma (or a related type called botryoid or spindle cell rhabdomyosarcoma or embryonal ectomesenchymoma) that has a low risk of returning after treatment for research study. (COG ARST0331)
- European Ewing Tumor Working Initiative of National Groups Ewing Tumour Studies 1999 (EURO-E.W.I.N.G. 99), AEWS0331
- UVA Health System, Department of Pediatrics seeks: children, adolescents, women and men with a type of cancer called Ewing's sarcoma that has spread to the lung or pleura for research study. The patient must be less than 50 years old at the time of study enrollment.
- Gynecologic Oncology Patient, 65 Or Older Wanted For Frailty Study
- A research study about frailty and women having surgery or starting chemotherapy.
- Individuals with Mantle Cell non-Hodgkins's Lymphoma needed for research study.
- The purpose of the study is to evaluate the activity and safety of lenalidomide in patients with relapsed or refractory mantle cell lymphoma.
- Men And Non-Pregnant Women, Age 18 Or Older, Who Have Pain Caused By Cancer That Has Metastasized To The Bone For A Research Study
- The purpose of this research study is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of an experimental device called ExAblate 2100 Conformal System (ExAblate CS) in the treatment of pain caused by metastatic bone tumors.
- Men And Women Age 18 And Older With Painful Cancer In Their Bones To Participate In A Radiation Therapy Research Study
- The purpose of this research study is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of an experimental workflow that may result in a faster way to plan and deliver radiation for the treatment of pain caused by metastatic bone tumors or multiple myeloma.
- Men And Women Over The Age Of 18 With Metastatic, K-RAS Or BRAF Mutant, Colorectal Cancer Needed For Research Study
- The purpose of the study is to determine if the experimental drug, Regorafenib, improves the outcome of colorectal cancer patients receiving standard of care chemotherapy, FOLFIRI.
- Patients with Glioblastoma Multiforme Needed for Clinical Trial
- In this study, researchers will be looking at the survival rate of those treated with an investigational medicine called Zactima (Vandetanib) in combination with standard radiation treatment and the standard chemotherapeutic agent Temozolomide.
- Patients with low grade glioma wanted for clinical trial
- The purpose of this study is to determine whether the addition of temozolomide to radiation therapy improves the survival of patients requiring treatment of low grade gliomas.
