Cardiac Valve Center

UVA’s Cardiac Valve Center is one of only a few sites in the nation to provide the full complement of transcatheter and minimally invasive procedures for heart valve conditions like cardiac valve disease of the aortic, mitral and pulmonary heart valves. To date, we have performed more than 250 transcatheter valve procedures, making us one of the most experienced programs in the field.
Our surgeons and staff work together to provide the best approach tailored to each individual patient, including investigating new treatments for valve conditions through clinical research trials. Interventional cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons and imaging specialists each use their particular expertise to diagnose and treat patients with heart valve disease.
Heart Valve Surgery: Specialized Options
UVA's cardiac valve surgeons perform traditional heart valve surgery. But they do more than that. They offer less invasive heart valve treatment options for patients who can’t undergo traditional cardiac surgery, either because of their age or other health concerns.
