Specialists also treat children at the Primary Care Center, as well as the Kluge Children’s Rehabilitation Center and the West Complex.

Your child may also receive care at one of these hospital units:

  • Intensive monitoring for children with serious medical or surgical conditions
  • State-of-the-art therapies, such as high-frequency ventilation, cardiac and respiratory support and kidney support

Acute Care Pediatrics is located on the 7th floor of University Hospital on 7 West and 7 Central. Services are provided to patients age 0-21 with acute and intermediate nursing care needs.

The Pediatric Emergency Department is dedicated exclusively to the care of the children from birth to age 21. No matter how big or small the emergency we provide specialized treatment in a friendly, caring environment 24 hours a day.

We have a separate waiting area for children and their families, private screening rooms separate from adult patients and 24-hour-a-day security guards.

Children and teens are seen immediately by an emergency room nurse and prioritized according to the level of the emergency.

A full staff of pediatric specialists, anesthesiologists and surgeons are available around the clock to provide consultation and highly specialized medical care.
