Leading the Fight Against Melanoma

At UVA, we’re offering hope and longer life to melanoma patients, providing national leadership in the testing of new and novel therapies and bringing those treatments into standard practice.

When cancer develops, the body’s immune system failed to identify the cancer cells as invaders. We’re working to develop treatments that help the immune system recognize the cancer cells as invaders that need to be destroyed.

We’re dedicated to the search for more effective ways to treat patients. And immune-based therapies for melanoma are an exciting treatment approach.

Our Human Immune Therapy Center conducts clinical trials on cancer vaccines. Through these trials, we can offer the most promising therapies that aren’t available anywhere else.
