Listing of conditions and treatments for Ear, Nose and Throat

Innovative Treatments

We offer the latest treatments for ear, nose and throat disorders, including:

  • Image-guided endoscopic surgery for the nasal cavity and the ears: A less invasive technique that may result in faster recovery and less risk of facial scarring and infection.
  • Balloon Sinuplasty™ for treatment of chronic sinusitis: An effective and less invasive way to open up blocked sinus passages with faster recovery and less risk of scarring and infection.
  • Botox injections: Used for treating voice disorders such as spasmodic dysphonia, a rare condition that causes the voice to have a strained, broken or breathy quality.
  • Cochlear implants: Life-changing for those with hearing loss, these surgically implanted electronic devices provide a sense of sound. At UVA, we also offer counseling before surgery and rehabilitation to help patients learn to work with their implants.
  • Repairs for congenital aural atresia: We offer implantable devices or a corrective surgery option developed here at UVA.
  • Tinnitus Clinic: One of just 40 clinics in the nation to offer retraining therapy for tinnitus, hyperacusis and phonophobia. The therapy retrains the brain to ignore, or adapt to, the unrelenting noise so that there is no longer a conscious awareness of the tinnitus. Other treatments offered include noise-generator fittings that emit a soothing white noise to filter out the tinnitis.
  • Vestibular and Balance Center: State-of-the-art diagnosis and expertise for patients suffering from dizziness, vertigo and imbalance problems related to inner ear dysfunctions.
