Our doctors, audiologists and speech pathologists will educate you about steps you can take to prevent many head and neck conditions and provide the highest level of care to manage your condition.
Here are a few facts:
- According to the American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, more than 55,000 people in the nation will be diagnosed with cancer of the head and neck. Most of these cases are preventable because the use of tobacco products is the number one cause of head and neck cancers.
- Millions of people suffer from seasonal allergies. To manage allergies and to prevent sinusitis, we recommend avoiding exposure to allergens as well as practicing good nasal hygiene, which includes using a regular saline rinse (nasal irrigations or salt water sprays). It’s also important to not smoke and avoid exposure to second-hand smoke.
- Hearing loss isn’t always preventable, but it’s important to protect your ears. Avoid exposure to loud noises and wear protective ear plugs or earmuffs if you work in a noisy environment, handle power tools or loud yard equipment, etc.
