Appointment information for orthopedic patients
What to Bring to Your First Appointment
To help us provide the best care for you, please help us understand your condition and determine how we can best care for you. Please bring the following with you to your first appointment:
- If you have images (such as X-rays, MRIs, nuclear medicine scans and CT scans) of the area needing treatment, we would like to see the actual pictures. If the images were done at a facility other than UVA, you will need to get them in advance of your appointment from the hospital or facility where they were taken. Your primary care doctor may send us copies of reports about the imaging, but we would like to see the actual images. If possible, please bring them on a CD.
- If you have had previous orthopedic surgery somewhere other than UVA, get copies of the operative notes from the surgeon, hospital or outpatient facility that performed the surgery. If you had an artheroscopy, please try to obtain copies of the pictures taken during the surgery.
- Please also bring a complete list of your current medications.
