Through our specialized clinics, we provide support to individuals and families with extra needs.

Family Stress Clinic

While we have expertise in child development and family therapy, we serve a wide range of patients, including adults, children, couples and entire families. 

You may seek our support if you need help with:

• Stress, depression or anxiety that interferes with your daily life
• Life transitions, like marital separations, a new baby, job loss, death or a serious medical illness in your family
• Effects caused by a family member's behavioral issues 
• Other changes affecting your whole family

A Comfortable Place to Seek Help

Seeking help from a therapist can be overwhelming, even scary. Located within the primary care setting, our clinic offers several conveniences to make your experience more comfortable, especially if you see a UVA primary care doctor:

• Your visit occurs right within your doctor's office
• We follow the same billing process and take the same insurance as the primary care doctors
• We work closely with your primary care doctor to address any overlapping physical and mental health issues you may have
• If you are on medicine, we work closely with your doctor to make sure it is meeting your needs

International Family Medicine Clinic

We work with the local refugee resettlement agency, the International Rescue Committee and the area health department to provide quality healthcare to the growing refugee community in Central Virginia. 

We specialize in treating the needs of people who received inadequate medical treatment in their countries of origin. 

Our doctors:

• Treat all general conditions, including pregnancy, and have access to UVA specialists, if necessary
• See people of all ages
• Offer expertise in tuberculosis (TB), hepatitis, parasites and other tropical diseases
• Stay current with international problems faced by refugees
• Coordinate with local agencies and doctors to ensure patients get the services they need

We also work with interpreters, who are always available in person or through our phone service.
