Community Service Award
Each fall, the UVA Health System Community Service Award is given to recognize and honor exceptional individuals who make volunteerism and community service a way of life.
The recipients embody a sense of caring and responsibility for others that connects citizens and solves community problems. They make extraordinary contributions beyond their normal job duties to enhance community life.
Who's Eligible for the Community Service Award
All full- and part-time UVA Health System (Medical Center, School of Medicine, Health Services Foundation, School of Nursing, Health Sciences Library) faculty and classified staff are eligible to receive the Community Service Award, with the exception of wage, temporary and contract staff.
One award can be made annually for overall community service or health-related outreach. This is intended to be a one-time award to the recipient. At the discretion of the Awards Subcommittee, one other award may be made to a "Community Builder" for their strong commitment to community service and related contributing factors. Such recognition will not preclude nomination and receipt of a primary award in future years.
