Official Trial Title
Caregiving Stress, Sleep, and Cardiovascular Disease Risk in Caregivers of Patients with Chronic Illness
Study Description

UVA School of Nursing seeks adults, ages 18 years or older, who provide in-home care to their loved ones with chronic illness for a research study. The purpose of the study is to find out how caregiving stress effects sleep and cardiovascular health.

You may be eligible for this study if:
• you have a primary responsibility of caring for an adult loved one diagnosed with chronic illness (for example, cancer, heart/lung/liver/kidney disease, dementia, stroke, Parkinson’s disease, etc.)
• you are not a professional/paid caregiver to the person
• you are generally healthy

Study involves one study visit to the School of Nursing lasting approximately 90 minutes (home visit option available). At the study visit, participants will be asked to complete questionnaires and get cardiovascular health markers measured by non-invasive devices. When leaving the study site, participants will wear a wrist-worn sleep tracker for 7 days and an ambulatory blood pressure monitor for 24 hours.

Study-related test results provided free of charge.
