The Center for Diabetes Technology seeks adolescents ages 12-17 with Type 1 Diabetes for a research study. The purpose of the study is to develop and assess a new approach to self-management that recognizes that many patients with chronic conditions must manage their condition continuously and often do so within a social context.
You may be eligible for this study if: you are a Type 1 diabetic who uses multiple daily injections or insulin pump therapy for treatment.
The study involves two or three in-person visits to UVA and three months of home use of the study equipment. Study visits include initial screening and device training.
Study-related supplies are provided free of charge and must be returned upon conclusion of the study. Supplies include a continuous glucose monitor (Dexcom G5® Receiver), study insulin pens (InPen, Companion Medical Inc.), personal insulin pump, and activity tracker (Fitbit).
Study subjects will receive $25 per week for completion of weekly uploads
