Effect of Exercise and/or Liraglutide on Vascular Dysfunction and Insulin Sensitivity in Type 2 diabetes
Study Description

UVA Health System, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Endocrinology is conducting a clinical research study. We want to learn more about how an investigational drug and exercise training affects the elasticity in the blood vessels of adults with Type 2 Diabetes. You may be eligible if you have Type 2 Diabetes but otherwise healthy, are 21-60 years of age and are not taking insulin. Participation involves a 16-week treatment period with either an exercise program, taking the study drug, or both. The study consists of 6 study visits that include: 2 outpatient visits lasting about 1 hour, 2 exercise testing visits lasting less than 2 hours, and 2 outpatient admissions lasting about 8-10 hrs. All visits are during the week, and require blood draws. The study will take approx. 4 months to complete all 6 visits.

Compensation

$400 for first outpatient admission and $800 for second outpatient admission
