The GI/Hepatology seeks adults ages with cirrhosis for a research study. The purpose of the study is to find out how the adrenal gland (the small gland on top of the kidneys) is affected by liver disease.
You may be eligible for this study if you have cirrhosis and have had fluid in your abdomen (ascites), confusion (hepatic encephalopathy) or bleeding in your throat (varices).
Study involves 1 visit to the research unit for a blood draw, one dose of cortisol to see if your adrenal gland is working OK and 4 follow up phone calls.
Study-related tests and medication are provided free of charge.
