Research study for healthy high school or college football players

Study Description

UVa Health System, Department of Radiology and Medical Imaging seeks healthy athletes ages 14 to 25 who are participating on a local high school of college football team for a research study. The purpose of the study is to understand the effects that sports-related head impacts have on the human brain If you agree to participate, this study will involve: 1. Four or more MRI scans of your brain at the University of Virginia. Each scan will last approximately 90 minutes. You will not be asked to do any more than six scans for the football season. 2. Allowing our research team access to any concussion evaluations that are already being collected by your team. Specifically, this would include the results of any computerized concussion tests or sideline concussion evaluations collected by your athletic trainers. Compensation includes a $50 American Express gift card per MRI scan, for college athletes and a $25 American Express gift card per MRI scan for high school athletes. * Study-related MRI scans are provided free of change. * Compensation for study completion is an additional $100 gift card.
