Official Trial Title
A Feasibility Study of Focused Ultrasound to Perform Bilateral Medial Thalamotomy for the Treatment of Chronic Trigeminal Neuropathic Pain
Study Description

The Department of Neurosurgery seeks men and women ages 18-75 with chronic facial pain for a research study. The purpose of the study is to determine if focused ultrasound can be used to help relieve chronic facial pain in patients whose medications are not working well to control their pain.

This study involves a screening and baseline visit followed by a focused ultrasound procedure and post-procedure visits at 1 Day, 1 week, 1 month, and 3 month. All participants will be randomized into either a placebo or treatment group and will not be told their group until the 3 month visit. Following the 3 month visit, participants in the placebo group will be given the option to have the actual procedure performed.

All study related procedures will be paid for by the clinical trial.
