A PHASE 3, MULTICENTER, FOUR-WEEK, RANDOMIZED, DOUBLE-BLIND, PLACEBO-CONTROLLED, PARALLEL-GROUP EFFICACY AND SAFETY TRIAL OF FLEXIBLE DOSES OF ORAL ZIPRASIDONE IN CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS WITH BIPOLAR I DISORDER (CURRENT OR MOST RECENT EPISODE MANIC)
Study Description

The department of psychiatry and neurobehavioral sciences, division child and family psychiatry is seeking children and adolescents ages 10-17 with Bipolar I Disorder for a research study. The purpose of the study is to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of an investigational medication when compared to a placebo for children and adolescents with bipolar disorder.

You may be eligible for this study if he or she is age 10-17 and diagnosed with bipolar disorder, and is able to attend visits to the study site 7 times over approximately 8 weeks.

Study involves blood draws, EKGs, physical exams, psychiatric assessments, and taking a daily investigational drug/placebo. There will be up to 7 visits to the study center over 8 weeks.
