Gabriela Pachano Pesantez, MD, specializes in adult psychiatry and is part of an inpatient team that cares for patients admitted to University Hospital with both psychiatric and medical conditions. She also sees patients in the outpatient clinical setting who have cancer in addition to a psychiatric condition, and she has a special interest in providing psychiatric care to Latino patients.
Born and raised in Quito, Ecuador, Pachano attended medical school in her hometown at Universidad Internacional del Ecuador. She then moved to Charlottesville to pursue her psychiatry residency training at UVA, which she completed in 2019 before joining the faculty full time.
Outside of work, Pachano volunteers at the Clinica Latina at the Charlottesville Free Clinic. She spends her free time exploring national parks and trying to be out in nature. She likes to exercise, including yoga and hiking, and she also enjoys going to local wineries and breweries.
