Matthew Robertson was born in Morristown, New Jersey, and raised in nearby Chester. He attended Norwich University in Northfield, Vermont, where he graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s in nursing. He began his career working as a critical care nurse in a variety of practice settings including surgical intensive care, pediatric intensive care and flight nursing.
After establishing a solid foundation in critical care nursing, Mr. Robertson returned to graduate school at the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned a Master of Science in Nursing in acute care. Shortly after graduating, he became board-certified as an acute care nurse practitioner and joined the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in the Division of Traumatology, Surgical Critical Care and Emergency Surgery.
In 2012, Mr. Robertson moved from Philadelphia to the Charlottesville area to join UVA Health System as an acute care nurse practitioner in the Surgical Trauma Burn Intensive Care Unit. He enjoys supporting his community both at work and as a volunteer firefighter in his home town. His free time is spent with his wife and three children.
