Nutrition in the Hospital

We provide support and guidance to help you manage your diet and nutrition while staying in the hospital. Our inpatient services target specific conditions requiring special attention, dietary restrictions and Medical Nutrtion Therapy.

Nutrition Support by Condition

Cancer

We provide:

  • Weekly follow-ups for patients to assess the effects of medical nutrition therapy (MNT)
  • Self-management skills to help you manage your diet, related risk factors, disease symptoms, treatments 

Cardiology

To assist patients in developing the self management skills to maintain a heart healthy lifestyle by

  • Adopting an overall healthy eating pattern
  • Establishing a regular exercise routine
  • Managing your weight
  • Keeping to recommended levels of saturated fat and sodium
  • Reducing daily intake of processed foods and added sugars

Digestive Health

Our nutrition team serves your digestive nutrition needs by:

  • Evaluating sources of malnutrition
  • Recommending tube or injection feedings for malnutrition
  • Providing specialized care

Neurology 

We provide nutritional support for neurological conditions, like:

  • Brain and spinal cord tumors and injuries
  • Brain hemorrhages and aneurysms
  • Epilepsy
  • Subdural hematomas
  • Stroke
  • Vascular malformations

Post-Surgery 

We assess and monitor adults after surgery, trauma or burns who require tube feeding and/or intravenous nutrition.  

Transplant

If you're undergoing a transplant, we assist you every step of the way. We:

  • Maximize nutrition status in pre-transplant patients to better facilitate healing after surgery
  • Follow patients post-transplant to ensure that their nutritional intake is adequate to promote healing and meet their needs
  • Educate patients prior to discharge regarding dietary guidelines to follow for optimum health and function of the new organ
