I'm Cherif Abdelmalek. I'm a hematologist/oncologist. I see all kind of solid cancers, as well as lymphomas, as well as benign hematologic conditions. I come from a family of physicians. I'm the fourth generation of physicians. I went to school back in my homeland in Alexandria, Egypt. During my childhood, I saw the passion that my father and my grandfather had to medicine and the compassionate interaction between them and between their patients, so I got interested in medicine. In UVA, you will find a compassionate care. You will find a state of the art facility. You will find an up to date way of treating patient, not only with the regular chemotherapy and radiotherapy, but also with an integrated plan to incorporate new trials, to incorporate personalized medicine. My greatest satisfaction when dealing with patient is their understanding of what's going on. They come for care. When I succeed to comfort them, when I succeed to explain to them what's really going on, when they feel more acquainted with their disease and their management, this understanding is something that satisfies me.
