Well I've been riding now for well over 50 years. Back in 2008, I'd had a horse accident. That's when I broke the femur, neck, and had to have the screws implanted. And then a year and a half ago, that hip joint failed. I'd have to lift my leg up and put it over his neck to relieve the pressure. It got to a point, I couldn't ride anymore. That's when I realized I was really in trouble. Mrs. Mong came to us with a very complex medical problem. The femur had collapsed, and she had developed osteoarthritis, that really wouldÕve required another surgery to take care of that. A total hip replacement was what she needed. My question that I asked was, Òwhere do doctors go, to get treatment for such issues?Ó And UVA was one of the top sites that came up. and I met Doctor Cui and we had a nice conversation, and I felt - well, I'm in good hands, so I'm going through with this. Susan is doing outstanding. She has been so motivated. She - after surgery, she actively participated - physical therapy and occupational therapy. And also she did a lot of exercise at home and at the gym. So she recovered very well. I don't have a bad word to say about Doctor Cui and his team. They did just a superb job. There's no doubt if I ever had to have another one -gosh I hope not - but I would go back to Doctor Cui. I had surgery on September 2nd, and I was back on the horse on December 2nd. Because my whole goal, truly, was not to cook or clean or do laundry. It was to get back on that horse. I feel great. There's nothing I can't do, and there's nothing that I wouldn't do.
