JAMIE BOURQUE: I'm Jamie Bourque. I'm a cardiologist with a specialization in noninvasive cardiovascular imaging. And I am the medical director of the nuclear cardiology lab, so think stress testing. In medical school, I was fascinated by the complex physiology that occurs with the cardiovascular system. And so I became interested in cardiology, and as part of that, did some clinical experience and research that led me in the direction of cardiovascular imaging. As director of the nuclear lab, I often get referred patients who have symptoms such as chest pain or shortness of breath. It's concerning for blockages in the heart arteries. So I've developed expertise in helping determine the best way to evaluate for those conditions and then how to treat them. We have a lot of robust tools that we can use, including advanced modalities, such as advanced imaging, that wouldn't be available at a place that wasn't a major academic center. And I think UVA in particular has a lot to offer patients in terms of expertise. I really enjoy getting to work with patients in clinic over long periods of time and getting to know them and their families and their goals and wishes and coming up with evaluation and treatment plans that fit within those frameworks. I find those kinds of relationships to be very rewarding. [MUSIC PLAYING]
