- My name's Jennifer Charlton. I'm a pediatric neurologist. I'm an associate professor here at the University of Virginia in the Department of Pediatrics and the Division of Nephrology. I love patient care. I love taking care of kids. I love seeing a kid that is very, very sick get better. I love the chance to educate families about kidney disease. I love teaching fellows and trainees and people about the kidney and all of the functions that it has. And I love seeing families over time. That's the clinical part that I love. I also love the fact that I can be creative in the lab. I love that I can ask questions and hopefully answer some of those questions and hopefully one day, with what we're doing in the lab, be able to translate that to a patient and improve a patient's life. That's my ultimate goal. UVA supports and encourages my creative, innovative, collaborative parts of me.
