[MUSIC PLAYING] JOHN JANE, JR.: I'm Dr. John Jane, Jr. I'm a pediatric neurosurgeon at the University of Virginia. One of the key features of being a pediatric neurosurgeon is that you see children from-- often from the beginning days of their life throughout their childhood and then into adulthood. Before a child is able to speak and interact with you verbally, really the interactions are with the family. And so being able to appreciate the kind of trust that a family is putting in you requires you to know how to speak to them and understand what their perspective is. I love taking care of children and talking to the parents. I think that's an essential part of being a pediatric neurosurgeon or somebody who takes care-- anyone who takes care of children. One of the things that people should know when they come to get care here at UVA, and certainly in the pediatric neurosurgery division, is that they'll have a group of people who really are dedicated to giving them the best care that is possible.
