My name is Min Park. I'm a neurosurgeon at the University of Virginia Medical Center, specializing in cerebrovascular and endovascular neurosurgery. I was on active duty in the United States Navy from 2009 to 2013 and during that time I was deployed to Afghanistan during Operation, Enduring Freedom and supported the mission for NATO forces serving as the sole neurosurgeon for half of Afghanistan. I think that being a patient can be an incredibly stressful time and it's important that the relationship between your provider and yourself is as strong as possible. So building trust and building a personal relationship is first and foremost. The University of Virginia has an illustrious history in medicine as well as in neurosurgery. This is one of the premier neurosurgery programs nationwide. I think we do stress the patient as being the most important aspect of everything we do and involve them with all of our decisions to make sure that they're entirely comfortable with any type of treatment or recommendations that we make. I am passionate about my work. I think it's always challenging. It always keeps you on your toes and it's something that when I wake up in the morning, I'm very excited to pursue my days. And at home, I'm passionate about my family because they are always first and foremost in my thoughts and everything that I do.
