[MUSIC PLAYING] RICHARD STEVENSON: My name is Richard Stevenson. I am a developmental pediatrician in the Department of Pediatrics at the UVA Children's Hospital. As I entered my training into pediatrics, for some reason, I found myself gravitating towards children who tended to have different kinds of developmental problems. I therefore became a developmental pediatrician, which is a type of pediatrician who sees kids who are perhaps slow in their development, different in their development, and includes children with such conditions like cerebral palsy, autism, developmental delay, ADHD, behavioral problems, intellectual disability, things like that. I'm most interested and probably most expert in children with cerebral palsy. I've been part of the cerebral palsy clinic since I started here 25 some years ago. I do think it's important to talk with parents about possibilities. And so I try to do my best to answer that question of what this particular condition here and now means for my child now and in the future. Being a physician is just an honor and a pleasure to be able to work with families who come and trust their children to us. [MUSIC PLAYING]
