My name is Tamila Kindwall-Keller. I'm a stem cell transplant physician in the stem cell transplant program here at the University of Virginia. I see non Hodgkin's lymphoma patient, Hodgkin's patients, as well as multiple myeloma patients. And I evaluate them for stem cell transplant. I developed an interest in medicine when I was a teenager. My father was diagnosed with cancer at a fairly young age, and I understand what patients and family members go through when their family members are diagnosed with something as significant as a cancer diagnosis. I'm passionate about research. Without research, we wouldn't be able to advance our treatments for patients, and we wouldn't be where we are today if patients hadn't been willing to participate on clinical research trials. UVA is a unique organization in which they have caregivers who are very compassionate and want to help patients live better lives, as well as we have cutting edge science both in the laboratory as well as in clinical research. A new patient, when they come into our clinic, would meet the transplant team. Our transplant team includes many different specialties, including social work, our transplant coordinators, physicians, and nurse practitioners. So it's really a team effort when you come in to meet us for the first time.
