My nameÕs Kelly Davidson, and IÕm a hematologist here at the University of Virginia. I focus primarily on cellular hematology, so patients who have disorders of their red blood cells, their platelets, their white cells. Both my parents have had cancer, several grandparents, aunts and uncles, and so I think that perspective has been helpful in taking care of patients and really trying to see, kind of, their side of things and experiencing it as a family member or as a patient. Kind of, the anxiety and the stress of getting a diagnosis of cancer or any serious medical problem. I think thatÕs really shaped how I practice and how I interact with patients. UVA is a special place. We have a really good combination of people in various specialties, and thatÕs one of the most important things about coming to a place like UVA is it doesnÕt, itÕs not just me, itÕs the hematopathologists, itÕs the radiologists, the surgeons, all the different specialties that we have access to here at UVA that are really excellent, and really, you know, itÕs the whole package. So I think a patient gets that expertise in lots of different fields when they come here.
