I'm Linda Duska and I'm a Gynecologic Oncologist at the University of Virginia. I take care of women with gynecologic cancer. Not breast cancer; but women with uterine, cervical, ovarian, vaginal or vulvar cancer. I also take care of women with complex gynecologic problems.

What I see one of my big roles in at UVA is to make us the place to come in the state of Virginia when you have cancer. Not just because we can provide the most up-to-date technologically advanced surgeries, but also because we have the ability to provide the most up-to-date novel therapeutics. You don't need to go anywhere else. You can come here. We have groundbreaking clinical trials. We have great scientists. We have everything that you would expect to find at a world-class cancer institution.

I'm passionate about my work and what I do. I spend a lot of time doing it. It makes me very happy which is good. I'm passionate about my family and my children who are all fabulous. Anyone who knows me well knows I'm passionate about running, and I've run a few too many marathons in my life. 

One of the things I really love about being a GYN oncologist is that unlike other surgical oncologists, we take care of our patients all the way through the course of their disease. So we don't just perform your surgery and then pass you on to a medical oncologist, we do it all. We help take you through the journey and that relationship is really important to me and I think to my patients as well. I get a lot of satisfaction out of that relationship and about helping people to achieve that quality of life that they really want to have.
