At the University of Virginia, we have a multidisciplinary breast care team. What do I mean by that? Yes, itŐs us, the breast imagers, but itŐs also the breast surgeons, medical oncology, those are the people that give the chemotherapy, radiation therapy, genetic counselors, and plastic surgery, pathology. I could go on for quite awhile. So all of us meet together every Friday, and we review every patient with new breast cancer. So even before you have surgery, this group of people, and thereŐs usually about 30 people, look at the imaging, understand what the biopsy showed, and we talk about how to best treat that. By having everybody focused in a group on that one patient, I think they really get the optimum care.
