IÕm Larry Borish, allergist and clinical immunologist at the University of Virginia. I have several clinics. One is a severe asthma clinic where we see patients from all over western Virginia, and even beyond, who have been placed on asthma regimens and are doing extremely poorly. My other interest is chronic sinusitis. That is a joint clinic that I do in the otolaryngology department. I also do an immune deficiency clinic for adults with adult immune deficiency. And IÕm about, actually, to start a severe asthma clinic that will be done as a joint clinic with the pulmonary specialists here at UVA. In particular, I am known for the treatment of severe asthma. Patients come in and have failed all the conventional therapies and theyÕre eager to know what, either new or experimental treatments might be available, and know exactly what is going on in terms of drug development and immunological interventions. I am most passionate for my patients, and I will do everything that is feasible to get them the best treatments and the best diagnostic work-up. If we canÕt figure out how to make someone better, I doubt thereÕs any place else that could.
