My name is Zuseen Rannigan. IÕm one of the nurse practitioners in the neurosurgery service at UVA Medical Center. I specifically see patients with neurovascular neurosurgery diagnoses or diseases. My first job was on 6 West, which is neurosurgery. And then after having had experience with those patients, that patient population, working with the nurse practitioners and the neurosurgeons, I decided that I wanted to be part of a team that was, not only just good at what they did, but someone to be an expert in their field. I find that invaluable. UVA has a well-known reputation for being the number one hospital in the state of Virginia, and because of that, we get to see a whole bunch of different diagnoses. We have a ton of different teams that specialize in different disease processes. Many times, patients donÕt just come in with one diagnosis. So, itÕs really important that we tap into our other resource that we have and create the best care that we can for each patient. We just make it individualized based on the patientÕs needs. Many times, patients come in and see us for years on end, and I get to develop a relationship with them, and so, that to me is invaluable.
