My nameÕs Brian Werner. IÕm a sports medicine and shoulder surgeon at the University of Virginia. IÕm also a team physician for James Madison University. So, IÕm a sports medicine surgeon, but I see all sorts of injuries related to either the knee or the shoulder, and all ages of athletes as well. So, not just professional athletes, or collegiate athletes, I see everything from high school students and even younger, all the way up to weekend warriors and older patients. Probably the most common thing that I get referrals from other surgeons for are for revisions of prior rotator cuff repairs, and then shoulder replacement. So, I do a lot of shoulder replacement. I also do revision shoulder replacement, and reverse shoulder replacement. And thatÕs a relatively unique thing that not everyone is doing so I spend a lot of time doing that. In the knee, in addition to just regular knee surgeries, I also do multiple ligament knee surgeries. ThereÕs only a couple people in the state that so that so thatÕs one of the other things that I publish a lot on, and present a lot on, and do a lot of surgeries for. What IÕm most passionate about is making patients better. So, seeing patients, indicating them for surgery, and then watching them as they recover after surgery and get back to their activities of daily living, their work, or their recreational activities that they enjoy doing. And so, coming to UVA sports medicine, youÕre going to get a very comprehensive evaluation. YouÕre going to get experts in the field who travel nationally to talk about these conditions. And youÕre going to get surgeons who understand you, and understand how the condition impacts you.
