My name is Kenneth Bilchick and I am a cardiologist with expertise in heart rhythm disorders. We treat, in particular, patiences with heart rhythm problems. These can be fast heart rhythm problems or slow heart rhythm problem, and we treat these problems with a variety of approaches. I was always interested in science and, in particular, physics is how I got my start. As time went by, I realized that medicine was a great way to apply all these scientific methods and advances that we had. When I see a patient thats very symptomatic, say, from their atrial fibrillation - or from their heart failure - I tell them that I think I can improve that condition; that I can help them breath better or walk farther if they have heart failure or improve the symptoms if they have atrial fibrillation. And then we actually do a procedure, and they say: "My goodness, I am feeling so much better, and you and UVA have really changed my life! I'm able to do things that there's no way I could do before!"
