We are able at our clinic not only to treat cystic fibrosis but also to help diagnose patients with cystic fibrosis. Usually symptoms develop in childhood but there are certain phenotypes of cystic fibrosis that do not manifest until maybe young adulthood or even late adulthood. Most symptoms are respiratory and are like cough, shortness of breath, sputum production, most patients produce sputum, inability to gain weight, maybe digestive symptoms diarrhea. Most patients with cystic fibrosis are seen in the ENT clinics like ear nose and throat clinics, because of sinus disorders. Cystic fibrosis care is not only respiratory care. It also entails a lot of fine tuning and nutrition and physical activity and mental health, so our clinic offers all of these disciplines and offers all of these resources to the patients. The cystic fibrosis care is very complex and some patients spend up to an hour twice daily using these therapies so that they stay healthy. They are very knowledgeable about their disease. They’re very interested in healthy and learning about new therapies, so that’s very rewarding
