My name is Behzad Farivar. I'm a vascular endovascular surgeon at the University of Virginia. I also serve as the co-director of the UVA Aortic Center. I specialize in a variety of circulatory conditions. Specifically, I treat carotid conditions, abdominal or thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysms or dissections, and also patients with peripheral arterial disease. I truly believe in a patient-centered care approach. We sit down during our initial consultation, review your medical records, and address any of your concerns that are currently on your mind. We want to be able to have joint decision-making, and I want you to be able to understand what treatment options are available and what are the risks and benefits of each procedure. And once we are able to get them through a procedure or an operation safely, once they fully recover and they are able to spend that time with their family members, and they see you in the office and tell you about their experience and how lucky and fortunate they feel that we have been able to safely get them through that procedure, that provides the most joy for me.
