My name's Matthew Miller, and I am a breast cancer imager and researcher. I participate in breast imaging, which includes mammography and ultrasound and MRI. And I also participate in breast cancer research. My research focuses primarily on looking for ways to detect breast cancer earlier, so that patients can have earlier and more effective treatment options. I think one of the strengths of UVA is our multi-disciplinary approach to breast cancer detection and treatment. We have, on our team, imagers such as myself. We also have medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, surgeons, pathologists, geneticists. And we meet together every week. There is easily 20 to 30 of us in a room together, and we discuss all of our active patients one at a time. We talk about how they're doing, what treatment options they want to pursue. We discuss the latest research and how that might impact the care we can provide. And we really work together as a team to ensure that patients get the top-level, personalized care that they deserve.
