How to Make a Physician Referral

We know the best medical care for every patient depends on a partnership with referring healthcare professionals. We also know good communication and easy access to doctors and treatment options are key to making that partnership successful.

Call UVA Physician Direct at 800.552.3723

Round-the-clock, toll-free access to UVA doctors and treatment areas for consultations, referrals, bed coordination center and medical information. You may also call 866.TO.ADMIT (862.3648) to reach the Bed Coordination Center.

Use our Find a Doctor feature to search for providers or specialties.

For Your Patients

Your patients can schedule, change or cancel appointments, receive test results, get directions to UVA and have other questions answered by calling 800.251.3627.

EpicCare

UVA’s EpicCare gives you comprehensive information about your patients’ visits to UVA, including lab results, radiology reports, clinic notes and discharge summaries.

To view records, your patients must name you as their referring physician when they visit UVA. Referring providers who are listed as the patient’s PCP have ongoing access to the patient's data with no time limits. However, if the provider is listed as a referring provider on the patient record, the provider will have only 6 months of access to the patient record.

UVA representatives will come to your practice to install the system and train staff.
