Nia, Massage and MoreFind out how alternative therapies can help cancer patients
cope with treatment.
Care for your mind, body and spirit
Sometimes known as alternative medicine or holistic healing, these therapies can help you feel better and deal with the long-term effects of your cancer treatment.
Our Services Include:
-
Nutrition, Supplements and Diet Therapy: Good nutrition is
key to healing. Our nutritionist can help you learn about safe and
helpful supplements, herbs and diets. She’ll also help you counteract
treatment side effects like mouth sores or weight changes and provide
research-based information on preventing recurrence.
-
Massage Therapy: Massage is used by many to improve overall
well-being. It relieves muscle tension, enhances your circulation and
helps you relax. It also reduces fatigue, pain and nausea and helps
improve sleep.
-
Acupuncture: An ancient Chinese practice of inserting fine
needles through the skin at specific points on the body. Acupuncture
can relieve nausea, fatigue and pain and provide a general feeling of
well-being.
- Exercise Consultation: A student internship program provides individual exercise consultation. Weekly classes in Nia and Yoga are also held at the Cancer Center.
-
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction: Use the practice of
focusing your attention on the present moment to help with pain,
anxiety and stress.
-
Spiritual Care and Guidance: Our chaplain will help you use
your faith, religion or spiritual beliefs to help you through this
difficult time.
-
Counseling Services: Counseling can help you better adjust to your "new normal" after your diagnosis.
Our Integrative Medicine Program also includes all of the support services available to you.
