Bio & Overview
A member of the UVA general pediatrics clinical faculty since 2016, Abigail V. Kumral, MD, sees patients at UVA Northridge Pediatrics. She has a particular interest in pediatric mental health and quality initiatives. She is also in charge of a medical student elective that offers medical outreach in Costa Rica.
Originally from Chatham, New Jersey, Kumral was an English major at Rice University in Houston before pursuing a medical degree at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (now part of Rutgers University). In medical school, she was awarded the Sidney J. Sussman Award for Academic Excellence in Pediatrics. Kumral then went on to complete a pediatric residency at the University of Virginia.
Her interests outside of work include traveling and hiking with her husband, Dennis Kumral, a gastroenterologist at UVA, reading and gardening.
