Bio & Overview
Ava Thomas, MD, is a family medicine physician specializing in geriatric medicine. She is currently involved in both the memory consult clinic and Virginia at Home primary care.
Dr. Thomas enjoys working with students and residents, as well as the general public, to increase their knowledge of geriatrics.
Dr. Thomas earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Connecticut. She attended medical school at Ross University and earned her MD. She then proceeded to complete a residency in Family Medicine at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, VA. After earning board certification in Family Medicine, Dr. Thomas wanted additional training in the care of older adults, so she completed fellowship training in Geriatrics at Wake Forest University. Dr. Thomas joined the UVA faculty in 2023.
In her spare time, Dr. Thomas enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with her husband, Zach.
