Bio & Overview

Carrie Holman has worked for over 10 years as a physical therapist in outpatient centers. She focuses on working with people with vestibular disorders, concussions, and neurologic disorders.

“My primary goal is to help them get back to the things they love to do,” she shares.

“When possible, I try to include exercises and activities that relate to their hobbies and interests.”

She sees patients with a wide range of conditions, including:

  • Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV)
  • Peripheral vestibular dysfunction
  • Persistent postural perceptual dizziness (PPPD)
  • Vestibular migraine
  • Central vestibular disorders
  • Concussion
  • Other vestibulopathies

Carrie received her DPT (Doctor of Physical Therapy) degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2012.

She has an older sister who is a physician. She initially thought she’d take a similar path. “But after having more interactions with rehabilitation professionals (athletic trainers and physical therapists), I knew that would be a better fit for me,” she shares.

“I wanted to be able to have a tangible impact on the lives of others, while getting to know them more as an individual.”

Carrie enjoys clinical instruction of physical therapy students as well. “Over the years, I have had the pleasure of presenting on vestibular disorders among other topics to other clinicians, physical therapy assistant students, and the broader community.”

Carrie grew up in Cary, North Carolina, where she enjoyed being active and outside. She shares: “I first started taking an interest in healthcare while taking sports medicine classes in high school and was a student athletic trainer for our school's basketball and baseball teams. I have long been involved with music as well. I enjoyed my time in the concert band in high school as well as the marching band in both high school and college.”

Outside of the clinic, Carrie and her husband, Matt, enjoy hiking, going to concerts, and trying out new restaurants and wineries in the area.
