Indumathy Varadarajan, MD

Indumathy Varadarajan, MBBS, grew up in India and moved to the United States after medical school to further her education. She completed a residency at Mount Auburn Hospital, the teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, and then pursued a hematology/oncology fellowship at Drexel University/Hahnemann University in Philadelphia, followed by a year of special training in bone marrow transplantation and cellular immunotherapy at the Moffitt Cancer Center.   Varadarajan is currently part of the bone marrow transplantation team at UVA Comprehensive Cancer Center, specializing in caring for patients who need autologous or allogeneic transplantation, as well as CAR-T cell therapy. She is particularly interested in acute lymphoblastic leukemia, acute myeloid leukemia, multiple myeloma and lymphomas.    With a focus on myeloid malignancies, Varadarajan’s research goals include integrating CAR-T therapy and other immunotherapeutic modalities into the treatment of myeloid malignancies.    In her spare time, Varadarajan enjoys Indian classical music and is a trained singer and performer. She also loves to play tennis and basketball.
