Originally from Portland, Oregon, Dr. Hotchkiss attended medical school at the Medical College of Virginia, which is now Virginia Commonwealth University. He completed his family medicine residency at Kaiser Permanente Washington in Seattle, Washington.

Before joining UVA Health in 2024, Dr. Hotchkiss worked as a family physician in the Shenandoah Valley.

Dr Hotchkiss is very friendly, smiles a lot, takes time to listen. He gives me options, my health care choices are ultimately my own. I don't expect any more or less from someone I don't know and I see once a year if i'm lucky.

Dr Hotchkiss is the best Dr that I've ever had! He sits down and truly listens to why I am there, then works a plan of action and describes it in detail to myself as well as my husband! He is the epitome of professionalism, yet listens to you with patience and kind ears. We definitely need more physicians like Dr Hotchkiss!!
