Originally from Portland, Oregon, Dr. Hotchkiss attended medical school at the Medical College of Virginia, which is now Virginia Commonwealth University. He completed his family medicine residency at Kaiser Permanente Washington in Seattle, Washington.

Before joining UVA Health in 2024, Dr. Hotchkiss worked as a family physician in the Shenandoah Valley.

My first time seeing Dr Hotchkiss. Found him to show much concern, was a good listener, very conscientious in his approach, thorough in his diagnosis ( plantar fasciitis), and clear in discussing and explaining treatment options. Was very pleased with my visit. So far his suggestions are proving helpful. Was extremely pleased to have him in our local family practice. Would not hesitate to ask for him the next time I need medical help. Degree of professionalism was top notch. Cannot rate him high enough!!
