Bio & Overview
Jiefu Zheng, MD, PhD, is a board-certified nuclear medicine specialist. He uses nuclear medicine technologies to treat thyroid cancer, prostate cancer, bone metastasis, and neuroendocrine tumors.
He practices the full range of nuclear medicine, which includes nuclear cardiology and hybrid molecular imaging (SPECT/CT and PET/CT). He has special expertise in PET imaging, as well as targeted radioisotope therapies using radiopharmaceuticals, such as I-131, Xofigo, Pluvicto, and Lutathera.
Zheng completed his residency training in nuclear medicine and a fellowship in positron emission tomography (PET) imaging at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Prior to joining the UVA faculty in 2021, he practiced at the Iowa City VA Medical Center, University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, and Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, where he served on the Radiation Safety Committee, Human Use Subcommittee, and Cancer Committee.
