Kelly Davidson, MD, is a fellowship-trained hematologist and oncologist who cares for patients with a broad range of benign and malignant blood disorders, with a particular focus on cellular hematology. She has expertise in myeloproliferative and myelodysplastic syndromes, red cell disorders including sickle cell disease, bone marrow failure syndromes, mast cell disorders, and disorders of hemostasis and thrombosis.
A native of Alexandria, Dr. Davidson earned her undergraduate degree in biology from Georgetown University, where she competed in track and field and cross country and graduated summa cum laude in 1996. She went on to attend Washington University in St. Louis for medical school and completed her residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, a teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School. In 2003, she came to the University of Virginia (UVA) for a fellowship in hematology and oncology, and she has been a faculty member at UVA since 2009.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Davidson enjoys running, exploring new restaurants, and spending time with her husband and their two children. They love living in Charlottesville.

Dr. Kelly Davidson Profile Video
My name's Kelly Davidson, and I'm a hematologist here at the University of Virginia. I focus primarily on cellular hematology, so patients who have disorders of their red blood cells, their platelets, their white cells. Both my parents have had cancer, several grandparents, aunts and uncles, and so I think that perspective has been helpful in taking care of patients and really trying to see, kind of, their side of things and experiencing it as a family member or as a patient. Kind of, the anxiety and the stress of getting a diagnosis of cancer or any serious medical problem. I think that's really shaped how I practice and how I interact with patients. UVA is a special place. We have a really good combination of people in various specialties, and that's one of the most important things about coming to a place like UVA is it doesn't, it's not just me, it's the hematopathologists, it's the radiologists, the surgeons, all the different specialties that we have access to here at UVA that are really excellent, and really, you know, it's the whole package. So I think a patient gets that expertise in lots of different fields when they come here.
